About Me

How this started

A friend and co-worker had show dogs.  When she finished them in Breed, she'd move on to Obedience and Agility.  Sometimes I would go and watch the agility trials, which fascinated me.
Having purchased several pieces of jewelry from me in the past, she asked if I would create a brooch to honor her Papillon.  She loaned me a few breed magazines and allowed me to choose the photo.  I felt like I was back in college, using the same technique I used to design block prints.  It was a blast!  Some time later, after receiving many positive comments, she asked me for a Doberman brooch.  I was off and running!

Personal History

A New England native, I first studied studio art at Colby College and the University of Maine at Orono, focusing on printmaking, etching and block prints.  A twist of fate sent me to North Carolina where I trained to become a dental lab technician.  I later returned to New England and, in 1985, while working for a dentist in Nashua, NH, took a jewelry-making class at the New Hampshire Institute of Art.  My technical skill with metals translated happily to the new art form. Then and there I fell in love with silver.

A juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen since 1991, I design my “pierced” silver pieces much the way I designed block prints: by removing shadows with my saw blade and leaving the light.  The eye fills in the details of my graceful, contemporary renderings of animals, birds, and natural textures.

I live in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire and am an active member of the Mont Vernon Artisans.  My work can be found in several fine craft shops and shows around New England

Artist Statement

Handcrafted silver jewelry,
reflecting my joy in the New England seasons,
makes every day an occasion for art
with the sparkle of silver
or splash of a colorful stone.

The rhythms and textures of small town life energize
my designs.  Nature’s spirit flows through them,
playing along the graceful curves of a cat’s back,
and softening edges
as water smooths pebbles in a brook.

Wear my jewelry and carry the harmonies of the earth with you.
